As an avid outdoors
man, Kurt is a strong advocate of conserving our natural resources.
While some politicians resort to exaggerated claims and misguided
pseudo science as scare tactics, Kurt believes each one of
us should want be a good steward of our natural resources,
working together to balance the needs of wildlife and population
growth.
During Kurt's tenure,
Elgin Township developed a strong recycling program to prevent
batteries, cell phones and other electronic devices from being
placed into local landfills.
With a background
in the housing market, Kurt has also worked with many homebuilders
to develop affordable, cost-effective "green" building
practices, designed to reduce energy consumption without adding
unreasonable costs to new construction. He was instrumental
in bringing together tradesmen and local code officials to
establish an open dialogue to develop affordable, high efficiency
standards for future building codes.
While protecting
our natural history is priority to Kurt, he realizes government
must take a balanced approach that does not prohibit growth.
During his tenure as Kane County's representative on the Chicago
Metropolitan Agency for Planning, Kurt advocated for smart
growth throughout the collar counties. As a Kane County Board
Member, Kurt will work with developers and regional planners
to develop a balanced plan for future growth.
