Register to Vote

If any lesson was learned from the 2009 Township election, it is that voting is among the most fundamental and important rights of every American. The next time people are heard saying, “What does it matter? My vote doesn't mean anything,” they should be reminded that the Trustee race was decided by a single vote!

  • Complete the above mail-in registration form.
  • Optional* but highly recomended- Provide copies of 2 acceptable forms of ID with the completed mail-in registration form.

    *By providing the forms of ID, you are eligible to vote by mail the first time you vote. If you do not provide the information above, then you will be required to provide election officials with this information the first time you
    vote at a polling place or by in-person absentee ballot.

Be sure to bring 2 acceptable forms of ID when you register to vote.

The above locations were chosen for its proximity to the district, however, you may register at any location in the State of Illinois that offers voter registration. The Kane County Clerk has a full list of locations for your convienence.

Deadlines
2012 General Primary

  • Last day to register to vote: Tuesday, February 21, 2012
  • Grace period registration: Wednesday, February 22, 2012 - Tuesday, March 13, 2012
  • Registration will resume: Thursday, March 22, 2012

Eligibility
To be eligible to register to vote, a person must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be 18 years of age by the next election
  • Reside in the precinct for 30 days prior to the next election.

Acceptable Forms of ID
In accord with Public Act 83-0258, you are to furnish two (2) forms of identification, one of which must include your current name and residence address. Identification shall include, but is not limited to:

  • Driver's License
  • Social Security Card
  • Employee ID Card
  • Student ID Card
  • Credit Card
  • Library Card
  • Insurance Card
  • Selective Service Card
  • Civic Membership Card
  • Fraternal Membership Card
  • Union Membership CardProfessional Association Membership Card
  • Utility Bill
  • Checkbook
  • Residence may also be verified by the use of telephone books, city directories, school records, and utility records. Utility bills in the name of one spouse may be used as proof of residence for both husband and wife.

If an applicant has not updated the address on the driver’s license, proof of residence can be any letter mailed to him/her at the present address, postmarked within the last 30 days.
